Invisible to You, Life-Changing to Me: My Journey to Save My Sight

There are some things in life that we often take for granted—being able to see the face of someone we love, read a message on a phone, walk safely through a room, or simply look outside and enjoy the world around us.

For someone living with severe vision problems, these ordinary moments can become difficult, frightening, and uncertain.

Recently, I underwent an eye examination at Sarabia Vision Eye Specialist Clinic, and the results confirmed just how serious my vision condition has become.

What My Eye Examination Found

According to my medical assessment, I have very high myopia in both eyes (OU).

Myopia, commonly called nearsightedness, means that distant objects are difficult to see clearly. In very high myopia, the degree of nearsightedness is much more severe and can be associated with an increased risk of complications affecting the eyes.

The examination also noted amblyopia in my right eye (OD). Amblyopia, sometimes called “lazy eye,” occurs when vision in one eye does not develop normally, resulting in reduced visual function.

The visual acuity recorded on my examination gives a clearer picture of how difficult seeing has become:

Right eye (OD): Counting fingers at 2 feet
Left eye (OS): 20/200

For comparison, normal distance vision is commonly described as 20/20. A measurement of 20/200 means that something a person with typical vision can see at 200 feet may need to be as close as 20 feet for someone with that level of visual acuity to see it clearly.

These numbers are not simply numbers on a piece of paper. They represent the challenges I face every day.

Living With Very Poor Vision

Severe vision impairment can affect almost every part of daily life.

Simple activities can require significantly more effort. Reading becomes difficult. Recognizing people from a distance can be challenging. Moving around unfamiliar places can feel unsafe. Tasks that others can accomplish without thinking may require assistance or special care.

And perhaps the most difficult part is the uncertainty—wondering how much vision may remain in the future and whether treatment can prevent further deterioration.

My doctor has recommended that I pursue further care for my eyes, including surgery. This is why I am reaching out today.

I Am Asking for Your Help

I am sharing my story because I cannot face the financial burden of this journey alone.

Eye surgery and the medical care surrounding it can be expensive, especially when you are already struggling with severely impaired vision.

I am humbly asking for your generous support toward my eye surgery.

Every contribution, no matter how small, can help bring me closer to receiving the treatment I need. If you are unable to donate, sharing my fundraising campaign with your friends, family, and social-media network would also mean so much to me.

Your support could help me hold on to something incredibly precious: my ability to see.

Please consider supporting my journey:

If you can donate, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
If you can share the campaign, thank you.
If all you can do is keep me in your thoughts and prayers, thank you.

Every act of kindness brings hope.

What may be invisible to you is life-changing to me. Please help me save my sight.
