The Kneeling Leader: A 33-Day Devotional
A Devotional Journey into Humility, Servanthood, and Spirit-Led Influence for Christian Entrepreneurs
Day 11 — Ransom Through Service
Scripture (Douay-Rheims):
“For the Son of man also is not come to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a redemption for many.” — Mark 10:45
Reflection
Jesus did not come to collect admiration. He came to give His life. His leadership was rooted in sacrifice, not self-promotion. Every miracle, every teaching, every act of compassion flowed from His willingness to pour Himself out.
In leadership, sacrifice takes many forms. It may mean sacrificing convenience for consistency. Comfort for compassion. Ego for unity. Recognition for righteousness.
Servant leaders ask different questions than self-centered leaders. Instead of “How does this benefit me?” they ask, “How does this help my people grow?” Instead of “How can I protect my image?” they ask, “How can I protect their dignity?”
Modern foot-washing often looks like advocating for fair policies, creating healthy work-life boundaries, investing in professional development, and addressing conflict with grace. It means being willing to absorb pressure so your team does not have to carry it alone.
Sacrificial leadership builds deep trust. People give their best when they know their leader gives first. They commit when they feel cared for. They grow when they feel valued beyond productivity.
Jesus’ greatest influence came through His greatest surrender. Likewise, your deepest impact will come not from how much you demand, but from how much you give.
Consider today: Where is God inviting me to serve more sacrificially?
Prayer
Jesus, teach me to lead with generosity and courage. Help me to give more than I take and to love more than I seek recognition.
