The Kneeling Leader: A 33-Day Devotional
A Devotional Journey into Humility, Servanthood, and Spirit-Led Influence for Christian Entrepreneurs
Day 6 — Building with God, Not for Applause
Scripture (Douay-Rheims):
“Unless the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it.” — Psalm 127:1
Reflection
Many leaders spend years building impressive structures — companies, brands, reputations, and networks. Yet Scripture asks a sobering question: Who is doing the building?
When success is driven by applause, exhaustion follows. When validation becomes the goal, peace disappears. When comparison becomes the compass, direction is lost. You may appear successful while feeling empty.
God never called you to build alone. He called you to build with Him.
Surrender means inviting God into strategy meetings, hiring decisions, financial planning, and long-term vision. It means praying before expanding. Listening before launching. Waiting before rushing. Obeying before optimizing.
When God builds, sustainability replaces strain. Favor replaces friction. Wisdom replaces impulse. Unity replaces rivalry.
Performance-driven leadership creates pressure-filled cultures. People feel valued only for output. Mistakes are punished. Burnout is normalized. But surrendered leadership creates grace-filled cultures. People are developed, not drained. Growth is balanced with care.
Measuring success by obedience changes everything. You begin to ask: Did I honor God? Did I love people well? Did I steward resources faithfully? Did I listen when He spoke?
Applause fades. Obedience lasts.
Your legacy will not be defined by headlines, but by hearts impacted through surrendered leadership.
Today, reflect: Am I building something God is blessing — or something I am forcing?
Prayer
Father, I surrender my ambitions, plans, and timelines to You. Build through me what You desire. Be the CEO of my heart, my business, and my future.
