St. Faustina Kowalska was born in Poland in 1905 and grew up in a humble and devout Catholic family. From a young age, she felt a strong call to religious life and entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy at the age of 20. While she lived a simple life as a nun, serving in various roles such as cook and gardener, her profound spiritual experiences would eventually influence the entire Church.
Between 1931 and 1938, St. Faustina had a series of visions in which Jesus revealed to her His message of Divine Mercy. He instructed her to spread the devotion to His mercy, particularly through the image of the Divine Mercy, the Feast of Divine Mercy (celebrated the Sunday after Easter), and the Divine Mercy Chaplet. Despite initial struggles and opposition, St. Faustina remained faithful to her mission. Her diary, Divine Mercy in My Soul, records her conversations with Jesus and is a significant spiritual text on God’s endless mercy.
St. Faustina passed away in 1938 at the age of 33, and she was canonized by Pope John Paul II in 2000. Her message of Divine Mercy continues to inspire millions around the world, calling people to trust in God’s mercy and to practice mercy in their own lives.
