A PRAYER OF STEADFAST FAITH THROUGH SAINT CLETUS
A PRAYER OF STEADFAST FAITH THROUGH SAINT CLETUS

In a quiet moment of recollection, I gather my thoughts before God and lift my heart with the intention of seeking deeper faith and unwavering trust in His providence. O Saint Cletus, faithful shepherd and intercessor, I call upon you who guided the early Church with courage, to stand beside me as I turn toward the Lord with hope.
Holy and eternal God, You are worthy of all praise and adoration; Your goodness sustains all creation, and Your truth endures forever. May my heart be aligned with Your divine will, longing not for my own desires but for the coming of Your kingdom, where love, mercy, and justice reign. I surrender my plans, my fears, and my uncertainties into Your hands, trusting that Your wisdom surpasses all understanding.
Grant me, I pray, a faith that is steadfast in trials, a trust that does not falter in uncertainty, and a spirit that seeks holiness in daily life. Provide for my needs and the needs of those I love; strengthen families, heal the brokenhearted, and guide those who are lost. Forgive my sins, Lord, as I forgive those who have wronged me, and cleanse my heart of all that separates me from You.
Lead me away from temptation, grant me wisdom in decisions, and protect me from all harm and evil. Through the intercession of Saint Cletus, may I remain firm in faith and constant in prayer. For Yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, now and forever. With trust and surrender, I place all in Your care. Amen.
REFLECTION ON THE PRAYER
This prayer invites a deep interior movement toward trust—trust not only in God’s power but in His intimate care for every aspect of life. By invoking Saint Cletus, one of the early leaders of the Church, the prayer connects personal struggles with the enduring faith of the Christian tradition. His witness reminds us that faith is not merely belief, but perseverance, especially in times of uncertainty or quiet struggle.
The structure mirrors the Lord’s Prayer, guiding the soul step by step: from recollection to surrender, from petition to praise. It encourages an honest offering of fears and desires while gently redirecting the heart toward God’s will. This is especially meaningful in a world where control often feels necessary; the prayer instead fosters humility and reliance on divine wisdom.
Its emphasis on forgiveness and protection highlights two essential aspects of spiritual growth: healing relationships and resisting what leads us away from God. The inclusion of communal needs—family, the suffering, and the Church—broadens the prayer beyond the self, reminding us that faith is lived in communion with others.
Prayed regularly, this devotion can shape a more grounded spiritual life, cultivating patience, clarity, and a resilient trust. It becomes not just a request for help, but a quiet transformation of the heart—learning to rest in God even when answers are not immediate, and to walk faithfully, step by step, in His light.
